One book I recommend is Nerve by Jeanne Ryan. This is a realistic fiction. Nerve talks about two teens that join to play a risk taking game that will earn them prizes, taking them to the final rounds where they can risk it all. Vee is a shy junior that works behind the scenes of her popular best friend Sydney. She decides to take a risk one dare at a time, soon realizing the reality of how far she's become with her partner Ian. This book has hints of action, drama, and a mini love story. Nerve is now a major motion picture, which I also recommend watching. The movie and the book differ a lot in many details, but they are both amazing in a way.

The book series I recommend is the Lord of the Rings. The Lord of the Rings is an amazing series. This series is about a hobbit named Frodo who has possession a ring that in the hands of the Enemy could enslave the entire world. Frodo has to go on an adventure to destroy the ring, and save the world. Along the way Frodo meets up with eight other companions. The nine companions have to fight battles, overcome obstacles, and survive a war in order to get Frodo to Mt. Doom to destroy the ring. The fellowship might be doomed to a fate of losing members, being split up, or death.

Right now I am reading the book Morpheus Road the light. Ralph a young middle school aged boy was hearing voices in his sleep. He woke up to see that they were coming from his house. His father being away and his mother being dead Ralph had no idea what to do. He then ran to his friend Coops house only to find the voices to follow him there. He told himself he was still dreaming over and over again but the voices grew more clear and loud. As Ralph knocked on the door there was no one home he remembered that Coops family had went to their lake house to help clear Coops mind of the terrible things that he did. The next day Ralph received a message on his phone stating that Coop had ran away and nobody could find him...

The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict by Trenton Lee Stewart is a swell read. Nicholas Benedict, an orphan with narcolepsy moves to a new orphanage. His new home was previously owned by a rich old lady who loved children but never had any of her own. Her will was to have the mansion turned into an orphanage. This orphanage is a little bit mysterious and has many odd people such as a group of bullies. These bullies call themselves the spiders and have a problem with Nicholas. When Nicholas and his friend, John find a few secrets about Mr. Collum they are immediately intrigued. Could there be a buried treasure by the orphanage? or is it just a myth?

Where Things Come Back by John C. Whaley is a mystery/fiction novel whose many different perspectives with which the novel is written adds so much flavor, emotion, and impact that the characters pop out, their conversations linger, and their lives are forever etched in your head. Every single character is distinct, influential, and relatable. From the prodigious young brother Gabe to the religion zealots, Where Things Come Back is a colorful novel bursting with flavors to quench any reader's hunger for good, impacting reads. Out of the pantheon of characters the book offers, Benton Sage, a man searching for an answer to his life, forgotten by God, and seeks to find the approval of his family resonates with me the most. Very much like Benton Sage, I often feel as though my relationship with God is tenuous and often misguided, leading me astray and consequently resulting in bad judgement. However, Benton Sage is not the only character I relate with. The main character: Cullen is another person who I relate with from the struggles of growing up as a teenager in a somewhat odd family to the stress and joys of school and life as a whole. As such I relate with Where Things Come Back on a very personal level and hope if you read this book, you will as well. Where Things Come Back is a wonderful book for any reader and if you, like me, loathe mystery novels, then this book is your Holy Grail, your call, your heaven, because I guarantee you that it will not disappoint.

I recommend the Micheal Vey series. This series is about a group of children with special powers who team up against an organization (The Elgen) that wants to take advantage of these children. The Elgen organization wants to use them to make more children with those powers, and take over the world. Elgen gets money by producing cheap and clean power. Elgen took the children and used them to make the power. Which they use to take over countries by controlling their power supply. The children spend most of the time running from these people who want to capture them. But in a different way... Be an eagle not a chicken.

Patrick F. McManus. I've talked about his books his books before, but only singular books at a time. Here, I recommend the entire Patrick F. McManus book series. His books are mostly nonfiction, kind of an autobiography of sorts. His books are made up of stories from his past, each separated into different chapters. Being an outdoorsman and humorist, he writes funny stories about his experiences with the outdoors with unforgettable characters, such as Retch Sweeney, Crazy Eddie Muldoon, Rancid Crabtree, and, of course, himself. So, if you like the outdoors and funny stories, I highly recommend Patrick F. McManus' books.

There are many great books I have read this school year but one recent book I have read is a page turner. This book is City of a Thousand Dolls by Miriam Foster. City of a Thousand Dolls is a fantastical mystery book about Nisha a resident in the City of a Thousand Dolls. Nisha was abandoned as a child at the gates of the City and was taken in as an assistant to the Matron. The City of a Thousand Dolls is home to the girls of the empire who have been abandoned because of the law only allowing two children. A few weeks before the "redeeming," or the ceremony where the girls are chosen by people of the empire as wives or apprentices, some murders occur. Nisha sets out to solve the mystery of the murders but her position is put at risk. This story is a must read or anyone that enjoys a good adventure and breath taking twists.

This realistic fiction story is one that will keep you wanting to flip the page to continue on the adventure led by Dirk Pitt. He and his friends go onto a journey to try to find a treasure hoard so large it is believed to be a myth. His expedition will lead them into many successes and dangers, but will it pay off in the end? Read Inca Gold to find out what's next.

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick is a great read. With many pictures, this book really brings the story to life. Hugo was a boy who lived in the train station. His life was independent from others and full of secrets. Barely escaping the station inspector a few times, Hugo took many risks. Throughout the story, Hugo develops as a character and as a person. This book shows the journey of finding his purpose. Just like any machinery, what was his part?

The magic strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom is an amazing novel in which music narrates the life of Frankie Presto and who he affects. The story begins with a young Spanish orphan named Frankie Presto, who is raised by a blind musician during a 1936 civil war. Frankie has no memory of being left by his mother in a cold river and being found and saved by a dog. At the age of nine Frankie is sent to America on the bottom of a boat with nothing but a old guitar. The Forrest Gump style book takes Frankie through the music of the early to mid twentieth century from classical, to jazz, to rock and roll. Like Forrest Gump, Frankie meets and influences many popular artists of the time. Some of these people include, the drifters, Elvis Presley, and Richie Valens. After backing up some of these artists, Frankie becomes famous himself, but realizes something interesting about his guitar. He learned that his music can alter lives, and his guitar's strings turn blue whenever it happens. Travel into the life of Frankie Presto where at the top of his fame, he disappears to only reappear as a farewell.

I recommend the Diary of A Wimpy Kid Series by Jeff Kinney. This series is about a kid named Gregory (Greg) Heffley that starts his middle school career in the first book and as the series goes on you see Greg grow and develop during his middle school years. As you read you see Greg's character grow and all the drama and problems he goes through in school. This series is full of middle school drama that some students can relate to. Overall this is a great and easy series to read. If you like adventures, drama, and something you can relate to then you should read this series.
